Dog Owners

In my neighborhood there must be more dogs than people. But, some dog owners think their dogs are people don't they? Otherwise maybe they would not let them roam free at their own will going where ever their little dog legs take them. Take this morning for example. In my driveway while loading my car with my stuff to go to work, I hear a low growl at my back. Turning I see a golden retriever looking at me like "who the hell are you and why are you here?" The dog has seen my cat and thinks that breakfast is near. Startled, I try to shoo him off. He is not going anywhere. He paces back and forth, I guess wondering about me and what I will do to stop him from eating the feline. Eventually he barks and runs off after some poor soul who is jogging by the house.

That is no way to start the day.

This dog is owned by someone close by as I see him loping through the neighborhood often bothering the other dogs that are behind fences and coming in to my garage to see what he can get. I am really quite tired if it.

Folks, love your dogs! Keep them close to home.

Thank you for your service!

This Veterans DayI want to thank all of our service men and women who have served us and our country so admirably these past few years. I visited the USS Yorktown and USS Drum in Charleston recently and I am reminded of their sacrifice and bravery.

Thank You!

Vista

This will sound like whining. That's OK since it is probably what I am doing. But, man, I hate Microsoft Vista. Why would a company put out an upgrade to a product that makes their customer feel like an idiot! Granted there are some cool things but I just tried to add a HP printer to a computer. Nothing!!! It cant find the server, blah, blah, blah.

Windows upgrades are like Star Trek movies...every other one sucks!

Lifeline Malawi Outreach Clinc

About 16 kilometers of the M1 north of Kusungu, Malawi our group of short term missionaries went the staff of Lifeline Malawi to hold an outreach clinic. I do not know the exact name of the village, but we served over 200 people that day. We saw everything from a baby with an infection to a man suffering from ARV resistant AIDS. It was an incredible time.

I cant wait

Ten years from yesterday Middle Tennessee including Nashville will experience a total Solar Eclipse. I jokingly put out an email to the staff where I work telling them of this and to get ready. One asked me "What will you be doing that day?"

I said if I am not in heaven watching from that side, you will find me with a video camera (or whatever high recording device they have ten years from now) looking into the heavens to enjoy a true celestial event.

I cant wait!

Water Shortage and Busy bodies

Franklin is currently going through a drought which has caused a strain on the infrastructure as far as draining the storage tanks to dangerous levels. Mainly the concern is that there would not be enough water pressure to fight a fire.

My church built its building in 2001 and as a part of that had to install over $350,000.00 worth of landscaping to satisfy the City of Franklin. As a part of my job I instructed the builder to sink a well on the property to supply the irrigation system that would keep our investment alive when the City of Franklin ran out of water. Thank God we did.

We are now in one of the worst dry spells ever and the city has banned all watering of plants, among other things. So we would now be looking out our windows watching the lawn and plants and trees burn up in front of us.

The really interesting thing is that ALL summer I have had signs placed in the yard saying the we were irrigating from a well. So far we have had 5 people turn us in for watering during the ban, with one idiot criticising for watering our plants at all and one telling us we were not doing it right.

I think that this shows at least two things:

1. They are jealous that they didn't put in a well.
2. Some people just like to cause other people grief.

God loves them both and so do I...after all I am an idiot too a lot of the time.

PRAY FOR RAIN!!!
