I cant wait

Ten years from yesterday Middle Tennessee including Nashville will experience a total Solar Eclipse. I jokingly put out an email to the staff where I work telling them of this and to get ready. One asked me "What will you be doing that day?"

I said if I am not in heaven watching from that side, you will find me with a video camera (or whatever high recording device they have ten years from now) looking into the heavens to enjoy a true celestial event.

I cant wait!

Water Shortage and Busy bodies

Franklin is currently going through a drought which has caused a strain on the infrastructure as far as draining the storage tanks to dangerous levels. Mainly the concern is that there would not be enough water pressure to fight a fire.

My church built its building in 2001 and as a part of that had to install over $350,000.00 worth of landscaping to satisfy the City of Franklin. As a part of my job I instructed the builder to sink a well on the property to supply the irrigation system that would keep our investment alive when the City of Franklin ran out of water. Thank God we did.

We are now in one of the worst dry spells ever and the city has banned all watering of plants, among other things. So we would now be looking out our windows watching the lawn and plants and trees burn up in front of us.

The really interesting thing is that ALL summer I have had signs placed in the yard saying the we were irrigating from a well. So far we have had 5 people turn us in for watering during the ban, with one idiot criticising for watering our plants at all and one telling us we were not doing it right.

I think that this shows at least two things:

1. They are jealous that they didn't put in a well.
2. Some people just like to cause other people grief.

God loves them both and so do I...after all I am an idiot too a lot of the time.

The Finished Product

After our April trip I made a follow up visit to Kauma to see the houses that we helped to build and fund. The first two homes on the left are complete and occupied. There are over 15 children living in those two homes. The third home is almost complete and the fourth is under construction.

Lizulu Princess

This is why I go to Malawi. The children. This little orphan girl looks a princess to me. I know a way to help feed her and hundred others. Lord help me share the way!

The "New Way"

The past few weeks I have been reading a book authored by Larry Crabb entitled "The Pressure's Off." It also has been the study piece of a small group in my church. I have been totally blown away by the concepts that Dr. Crabb has written here. Foundationaly, the old law of linerarity is gone. The false idea that "A" followed by "B" is exposed to be what it is. The idea that we can direct God to bless us by doing things is revealed as the reason there is a lack of hope in so many men and women. They are wanting to know God but going down a path that all blessing from God or at least the lack of trouble is totally up to us and how well we are keeping the path.

This is the "Old Way." The dead end way. The why doesn't God love me way. The old where is God in my pain way. The how could this happen to me way.

Get this...God wants us to know Him, to love Him. He wants us to enjoy...Him. Him.

More to come!
